[...] I really didn’t need to list all those artists because they are already listed at Sample Spotters. Sample Spotters is a very informative site about samples. I would recommend checking it out because it’s full of fun facts and music. But, don’t forget to listen to the jam listed below for it was created by our Prophet Matthew James.
Good day

Here's a interesting video I made to show off the Dervish's dance from the Guild Wars nightfall weekend.
The dance the dervish does is the same one that Christoper Walken did in the clip for Fatboy Slims' - Weapon of choice music video (hence the music used)

What do you think about it?

Mine
youtube.com/watch?v=j_aONMdkzxU

Original for those that may not have seen it

[...] Today, I found this interesting blog that rolls along the same track called Sample Spotters with individual posts that spotlight artists and samples. The main post that caught my attention was about a break I’d heard but never knew the origin of: the ‘Amen Break’ from “Amen Brother” by the Winstons. More than just talking about the sample and it’s use, there’s a YouTube-hosted documentary video all about that break. One very interesting thing about it is how the use of the break solidly mirrors how ideas from Hip-Hop as a whole were filtered into other genres and into the watered-down mainstream culture. Plus, it’s nice when Mantronix and 3rd Bass get name-checked. Filed under: music — James @ 7:10 pm [...]

Mr. Spencer,

I have just watched the video by Nate Harrison and can confirm that your break is on the Zero-G sample CD. This is blatant theft. If you were to get into litegation for this I believe you would be due a substantial return your copyright. I'm sure if you were to contact the MCPS in the UK, here.
http://www.mcps.co.uk/

It would be a formality for you to get a return from Zero-G.

Good Luck Rob

I am thoroughly disappointed at all of the comments that I read from decent sounding young people who are not appalled that works by artists such as Greg and the rest of us in The Winstons can be ripped off by hundreds of artist and they do not protest.I am the copyright owner of The Amen Drum Break which was created by fellow Winston Greg Coleman and neither of us have ever received a penny for our product.

this is but the tip of the iceberg for the "amen break." at this pointone could list thousands of tracks that use it. what an amazingly flexible - and awesome - bit of drumming, as compelling rhythmically as it is timbrally (gotta love that ol' analog sound).
